Norm, a resident of Courtenay, passed away peacefully at North Island Hospital in Courtenay, on March 9, 2019. He is predeceased by his parents John Bertie and Hilda (Ono) Corben-Falla and six of his brothers, Stan, Don, John, Lesley, Dick and Reg. He is survived by his loving wife, Julie Kathleen Blondel, son Neil Blondel (Carol), daughter Dawn Marie Ullock (Joe); grandchildren Jerrad Ullock, Cody Ullock, Nathan Blondel and Kyle Blondel, sister Gladys (Ron), nieces and nephews; Andrea, Laraine and Dawn of New Zealand, Carol and Avril, Trish of Channel Islands, Ron of England, Jimmy, Graham and Annetoinette (Guernsey). 

Norm served 38 years combined service with the R.A.F. (5 years) and the R.C.A.F. (33 years). After retiring from the military Norm pursued his passion of reading and writing as the editor of the Totem Times. In his leisure time, Norm wrote for the military stations' newspapers, first starting with the Haltonian School magazine in 1955. In 1958 he was stationed in Greenwood, Nova Scotia. Norm joined the library committee as publicist, beginning his parallel career as a writer with the column "Wings Over Greenwood" Station Newspaper. He ended up writing for the Comox Totem Times "Fish Wrapper" with his "Lightside" humour column. Norm was an avid reader, enjoyed reading Clive Custler, John Grisham and Daniel Desilva. Norm enjoyed his gardening and always had a selection of veggies in his garden every spring.

Norm was known for his English dry sense of humour. A loving husband, who over the 64 years of his marriage adored his lovely wife Julie. They had a lot of fun together throughout their years they enjoyed dancing until physically was unable. As a father he was loving and supportive. His family was everything to him. 

A big Thank You goes out to the exceptional care from the Comox Heath Nurses; Christine and Teresa for your gracious support, Dr. Hatlelid and the Comox Valley Hospital Emergency Ward Staff especially the afternoon of Sat. March 9, for your generous support.

Please join us for Norms celebration of life held on Wednesday, April 3, 11 am at Comox Valley Funeral Home, Cremation and Reception Centre, 1101 Ryan Road, Courtenay with a reception to follow in the "Garden Room" of the funeral home.
