In loving memory ~
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Norman Frederick Cole. He entered fully into the presence of the Lord on November 23rd, 2022, at the age of 90 years old. He transitioned unexpectedly, but peacefully, at the Port Hardy Hospital.
Norman lived a long and blessed life, born in Newport, Wales, and immigrated to Canada in 1975 with his wife, Mayela, where they found a fulfilling home in the small town of Port Hardy, B.C. and raised their two daughters, Alison, and Leanna. He worked as a millwright at the Utah Copper Mine for 20 years until his retirement, and then enjoyed a retirement job as a Commissionaire for the RCMP for 23 years.
Norman was an entertainer (a singer, a dancer, a comedian, a guitarist, a pianist), a builder, a sailor, a golfer, an inventor, a snooker and Scrabble enthusiast, a traveller and adventurer, and a true lover of life. He was a community organizer, dedicating many years of leadership and volunteerism to the Masonic Rainbow Lodge #180 and the Hardy Bay Seniors Centre Society. He was the life of the party, a hard-working and good-hearted father and husband of 51 years. His presence is greatly missed by his numerous family members and many friends.
Norman's Christian faith was an essential part of his life, and he found comfort in reading the book of John, Chapter 14:1-2. "Jesus writes to us saying, let not your hearts be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you, I go to prepare a place for you".
At the request of Norman, there will be no memorial service. He requested cremation and for his ashes to be spread on the ocean, as he often enjoyed walks along the sea wall.
