May 18, 1944 - November 21, 2022
In loving memory ~
It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved wife on 21 November 2022. Norma was a dear, sweet wife and mother who will be immensely missed. Left to grieve are her husband Reg, son Michael, daughter Kerri, sisters Joyce and Cathy, and many other family members and friends.
She was pre-deceased by her sister Susan. Norma was celebrating her 57th wedding anniversary on a river cruise in Europe when she contracted the Covid-19 virus. After returning home she was admitted to the Comox Valley Hospital.
After a very brave fight, she passed away in the ICU with her husband at her side. Norma was born on 18 May 1944 in Summerside, PEI, the eldest of 4 girls. She met and married Reg there, where he was stationed with the Royal Canadian Air Force. At that time she was a student nurse, graduating as an RN in 1966. Moving around Canada Norma worked at different hospitals, extended care homes and finished her career working as a nurse for over 15 years in an office with 5 family doctors.
After retiring and moving to Parksville, Norma got involved with Special Olympics and for many years was the Oceanside coordinator for Special Olympic athletes going to Operation Trackshoes in Victoria. She loved travelling, cooking, gardening and doing all types of puzzles.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Parksville Salvation Army or Oceanside Special Olympics on her behalf would be appreciated.
