Noreen (Neen) Elsie Weeks (nee McKellar) passed away peacefully in the early hours of December 22nd, 2017 at Crossroads Hospice in Port Moody, B.C. at the age of 91.
Noreen will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her children - Karalee Larsen (Greig), Darlene Slater (Michael) and Jeff Weeks (John), her grandchildren - Nicole Ford (Alan), Andrea Larsen and Kristina Slater (Lucas) as well as her many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours.
Predeceased by her loving husband John, daughter Trudy Gillies, sister Marge Fiddick and brother John (Sonny) McKellar.
Noreen was a long time resident of Nanaimo. She was an active member of the community. Over the years she assisted with the Chase River Choir, taught Sunday school at Chase River United Church and was a leader of CGIT and Explorers. She was a long time member of United Church Women.
Neen also was involved with the Ladies Auxiliary to the Chase River Fire Department. She was the secretary for the Petroglyph Water District and was highly involved in the Nanaimo Widows' Group.
Neen was an avid gardener who spent hours maintaining her flower gardens, fruit trees and lawns. She was a wonderful cook and baker. She always had time for family and friends and would go out of her way to lend a hand. She was kind, compassionate, caring and had unconditional love for her family and friends. Her life impacted so many people in so many ways.
