Nick was born in the town of Langedyk in the Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in 1954 just days after getting married to the love of his life, Andrea.
They settled and stayed in the Parksville-Qualicum area for the next 64 years and were always thankful for the opportunities that Canada provided for them and their children. Nick worked for several local farms, the sawmill in Port Alberni, the Qualicum Building Supply Store, and the Town of Qualicum Beach.
He was also a volunteer fireman with the Qualicum Beach Fire Department for 32 years. Nick was always happiest spending time with his family and puttering around in his large vegetable garden. Upon retirement, Nick and Andrea joined the local Tai Chi group where they formed lasting friendships.
Nick will be deeply missed by Andrea, his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many family and friends.
