July 19, 1940 - April 15, 2021
Nancy passed peacefully after falling into a deep sleep while gazing at pictures of her garden. She is predeceased by her parents, George and Nettie Solanik (Orange), sister Sylvia (Jerome) and brother George.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Doug, son Dean (Carla), daughter Carla (Warren), beloved grandchildren and great grandchild, brother Wilfred (Pearl) and countless family and friends.
She was born and raised in Saskatchewan, worked as a nurse while raising her own children in Alberta and retired in Nanaimo, British Columbia. Nancy's personality was larger than life. Loved for her big laugh, big hugs, big dinner parties and over-the-top garden, Nancy sowed seeds of kindness, laughter and generosity wherever she went and will be terribly missed by all who were lucky enough to encounter her.
There will be no service at this time, though one may follow at a later date when it is possible to gather and remember Nancy with hugs and smiles. No flowers, please.
Those who wish to do so are invited to donate on Nancy's tribute page with the BC Cancer Foundation (https://bccancerfoundation.com) and/or designate a donation to Palliative Care at the Nanaimo and District Hospital Foundation (https://nanaimohospitalfoundation.com).
