In loving memory ~
Monika Staub had a wonderful life. A determined and energetic spirit, Monika's dazzling grace and style was matched only by her beautiful and generous soul.
Monika grew up in Montreal, raised by her parents El e Johanna Staub and Konrad Friedrich Staub. She joined CP Air at age 20 and moved to Vancouver. Monika ew the skies with CP, Canadian, and Air Canada as a flight attendant for 35 years. Her work, life, and joy were people and their stories. Listening, sharing, and creating them.
One can find hundreds of people who eagerly tell tales of the adventures they had with Monika around the world. Monika's life was mapped not by all the places she set foot, but by all the people she met along the way.
Soaring above all was her love and partner for life, Neil David Stewart. Monika and Neil were fortunate to have 30 joyous years together. After many years in Burnaby, they moved to Campbell River on Vancouver Island in the year 2000.
After she retired from flying at age 55, Monika remained as busy as ever, teaching tai chi, gardening, kayaking, biking, dancing, laughing, and of course, travelling. She loved music, reading, and entertaining. Through it all, she never ever forgot a birthday and was always on the lookout for a thoughtful gift, message, or memory to share.
Monika touched countless lives in ways small and vast, making friends at every turn. She had a smile that, no matter how far away you went, could always bring you home. Monika leaves behind many family and friends around the world who will never stop missing her.
