Our beautiful Michelle (Mitch) passed away at the age of 49 on Thursday, August 10, 2017 in Comox, B.C. Mitch was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan and moved to B.C. in the early 1990’s to follow her dream of working with horses. She spent many fulfilling years working at ranches in the Fraser Valley as well as at Vancouver’s Hastings Racecourse. In addition, she excelled in her profession as a hairdresser, winning awards and achieving her goal of running her own salon in Maple Ridge. Mitch had an exuberance for life that was infectious and encompassed all she did. She was happiest in the outdoors: mountain biking, skiing, competing in races and triathlons, horseback riding and anything that involved the water. Her life was rich with friendships, family, creative pursuits and animals, always animals. She adored the many animals who were part of her life and leaves her two special ‘fur babies’ behind, Jett and Camo. Mitch battled advanced breast cancer for many years but despite her numerous health challenges and setbacks she filled each day with more hope and vibrancy than most of us do in a lifetime. Mitch you were extraordinary and we will love you forever.

Michelle was predeceased by her partner Roy in 2001, her father Norm in 2003 and her brother Brian in May, 2017. Michelle will be lovingly remembered by her mother Carolyn, sisters Roxane (Greg), Susan (Greg), Lynn (Greg), sister-in-law Jeanne, nieces Megan, Whitney, Annie, Noelle, Robyn, Greta and Scarlett, nephews Mitchell and Torry as well as her beloved Schneider and Pelletier aunts, uncle and cousins. Also close to her heart were Jaelin and Parker Ellis along with many cherished friends who became like family to her. A Mass of Christian Burial for Michelle will be celebrated on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (455 Pigeon Ave in Williams Lake, B.C.) with a reception to follow. Memorial donations may be made to the British Columbia SPCA (spca.bc.ca) or to the B.C. Cancer Agency (bccancerfoundation.com).
