March 20, 1937 - May 6, 2021
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of our father Michael. He passed peacefully in Palliative Care at the Nanaimo General Hospital with his son David and daughter-in-law Elizabeth by his side.
He is predeceased by our mom Jean and our step mom Ruth, our sister Debra and his brother Peter and his wife Margaret. He leaves behind his sister Pauline (John), son David (Elizabeth), daughter Karen (Stu), Stepchildren Leslie (Rick), Jeff (Leslie) and David, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Michael was born in Kent, England. He joined the R.A.F. in the 50s and went to Penang Malaya to help defeat the communist threat. He worked tirelessly to achieve and have the Veterans honoured years later because it was classified a policing action.
After the war he moved to Winterslow Wiltshire where he worked at Boscombe Down as a mechanical engineer and was a Special Constable Reserve until 1975 when he moved to Vancouver Island with his family and worked at Harmac #3 Wood Room for many years.
He also volunteered as an Auxiliary RCMP officer.
Michael belonged to so many organizations to mention. He was an avid volunteer for the community.
If you met our father you probably got a Werthers candy as he would never be out without a bag to share with everyone. I have heard him be called "the candy man"
many times.
Michael felt strongly for others, we ask that if you are compelled to make a donation to a charity of your choice in his name that would be greatly appreciated.
He will be missed by his family, friends and the community. You can rest in peace now Dad.
