It is with great sadness that we announce our world traveller, Michael John Bellas, passed away suddenly December 13, 2017 after a brief illness.

Michael was born in Accrington, UK in 1946 and was predeceased by his parents Monica and Leonard Bellas and his sister Allison.

He is survived by son, Andrew, daughter-in-law, Lesley and cherished granddaughters Ashley and Jennifer. When Mike immigrated to Canada in 1974, Muriel Fisher "Auntie" and family helped him immensely settle here in B.C.

Mike received his chef training in England before moving to Canada. Michael worked in Victoria prior to coming Port Alberni. He was a dedicated teacher at Alberni District Secondary School for over twenty-five years teaching foods, tourism and food safe.

Mike was a very sincere person with a great sense of humor and a quick wit.

Family and friends meant the world to him - a Celebration of his life will be held in the Spring.

No flowers are requested but donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
