September 16, 1967 - December 11, 2019
Mike was born in Ladysmith, BC and spent most of his life on Vancouver Island residing in the Cowichan Valley and Nanaimo, with a few childhood years enjoyed in Mackenzie BC. He was a brother, Uncle and a friend to many.
As a boy Mike enjoyed team sports, hockey and baseball. He liked to fish, icefish, ski, snowmobile and hunt.
Mike spent his working career in the forest sector as a Forestry Contractor. He was a successful entrepreneur working on the West Coast of Vancouver Island and within BC. Nootka Island was one of Mike's favourite locations.
Mike had a passion for the outdoors and challenging adventures. He was an avid hiker, rock climber and hunter. Mike found peace in the forest among the trees.
He loved fishing and being on the ocean and hosting family events. Spending time with friends and family was important to Mike.
Mike was the oldest of 5 siblings Sandy Taylor, Tammy Taylor, Jason Taylor (Hollie) and Adam Taylor (Carly). He was loved by his many nieces and nephews: Jordan, Mackenzie, Braydon, Mariah, Steven and Dylan, Hunter, Emmerson, Karis, Claire, Seth, and Eric.
Mike passed away at home surrounded by family and friends on Dec 11, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mike had a kind heart and a generous spirit. He helped many people near and far. Mike was loved deeply and will be missed by many.
A service will be held at Sands Funeral Chapel in Nanaimo on Jan 18, 2019 at 11 am followed by a reception at the Nanaimo Golf and Country Club from 1-3 pm.
