May 1, 1960 - September 21, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, Michael (Mike) Manson (age 61 yrs). Mike was born at Vancouver General Hospital, on May 1st, 1960, son of Wilfred and Trudy Manson, 1st of 2 siblings.
The Manson family lived at Lynn Valley in North Vancouver until Mike was 10 years old when in 1970, the Family moved out of the City to Willow Point in Campbell River where many happy times and good friendships were built.
In 1980 Mike met Cheryl Vanstone and in 1982 they were married. A daughter and son (Breanne and Colin) would soon follow.
Mike's working career began at various jobs (Pizza Island, KFC, and McPhee's Supply). Then, he got hired for the spare board at the Elk Falls Pulp and Paper Operations (Fletcher Challenge at the time) and worked his way to full time employment where eventually he would find the job he loved. Working outside, on the water every day on the dozer boats and log booms for the mill.
When the Mill's wood operations were sold, Mike followed the job to work for Timber West. Ultimately the job got even better when he started working on the tugboats (The Seymour Crown and The Carol Lee).
Retirement from Timber West landed him as a part time employee at Home Depot where he could essentially talk to the whole town while carrying a tape measure and tools on his belt every day - his favorite thing to do.
Late in life, he also re-found his love for motorcycle riding and joined the Eagle riders where he was supported and loved by the whole crew.
In 2010 Mike met Glennis Stevenson. They fell in love instantly and were inseparable. Glennis made Mike's last years the best of his life. Later in 2010 Mike was diagnosed with Cancer. With much love and support from his personal angel, (common law wife Glennis), he has fought this cancer with all his strength for the past 12 years.
Mike is survived by brother Ross (Joy), Common-law wife Glennis, daughter Breanne (Alana) and son Colin; grandchildren Navi, Taylor and Teegan. We will all miss you and you will be forever in our hearts and minds.
