April 3, 1936 - July 7, 2022
With much sadness and immense gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, uncle, and brother, Michael Corbin Weld.
Michael (Mike) was born in Nelson, BC on April 3, 1936 and passed away, surrounded by family, on July 7, 2022 in Duncan. Predeceased by his wife, Sarah (Sally) Weld, he is survived by his two daughters, Diana and Andrea; his grandchildren, Owen and Sarah; his sister, Jane. He will be deeply missed by Marilyn, with whom he shared many adventures, the Piers family who held a special place in his heart, and his many friends.
Mike's working career began with the RCMP and he retired as a Building Inspector from the City of Duncan. He was a founding member of the Maple Bay Rowing Club, a volunteer fire fighter, and a past commodore and active member of the Maple Bay Yacht Club. His joys were sailing, music, reading, a good single malt, family, dogs, and friends. He had an intense sense of curiosity and was always up for an adventure. His pride in and love for his family and the Maple Bay community are inspiring.
Dad, we love you and miss you. We are so thankful for the life you provided for us. You will remain in our hearts forever.
A celebration of life is being planned. Please contact the family for more information. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
