1948-2021 ~ It is with deep sadness to announce the passing of Michael Andrew Banasky (Model A Mike) on the morning of June 5, 2021 at the age of 72, at Avenir memory care centre in Nanaimo, while surrounded by family.
Mike is predeceased by his Father (Don), Mother (Phyllis) and survived by his Wife (Susan), Son (Don), Daughter in-law (Krista), Granddaughters (Shae and Paige), Hunting partners (Barry and Pete) and so many other caring life long relatives and friends.
Mike was born in Nanaimo in 1948 and was many things to many people from a Manager at the Nanaimo Regional Transit System to an old car nut, being a member and President of the BCVCC for many years (restoring and driving his famous 1928 Model A Ford, and many more).
He was a mentor and helpful to a lot of young racers in the 90’s and 2000’s and known as (Mike the hammer) for his passion and emotion at events. He was a Husband, a Father, a Grandfather and friend to so many. May we all take some comfort in that we were able to spend time with this great man and knowing he is at peace.
The family would like to thank the friendly and caring staff at Avenir for their amazing care and compassion. Special thanks to Dr. A. Kaban for always being there to help.
No service will be held for Mike, upon his request. In lieu of flowers, please go out and support local restaurants, have some laughs, and reflect on your memories of Mike. He loved to laugh, eat out, his Greek salad and his Calamari.
