September 16, 1942 - October 10, 2020
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Mervyn L'Arrivee on October 10, 2020 who had his loving family by his side.
Mervyn was born in Arborfield, Saskatchewan on September 16, 1942 and was the youngest of ten siblings.
Merv and his family moved from Arborfield to Flin Flon where he lived and completed high school. After high school, Merv joined the Royal Canadian Air Force, a career he had for 29 years until he retired in the Comox Valley.
After his retirement, Merv enjoyed many years up at Mt. Washington as a ski instructor, driving the cadets in the summer at Quadra and driving the van for Wheels for Wellness.
He was a very sociable, kind man who loved interacting with people, including his coffee pals over many years.
Merv will be dearly missed by the love of his life, Diane who he met in Manitoba and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past July. His three sons, Michael (Monika), Justin (Krissy) and Aaron.
Merv will also be missed by his two grandchildren, Isaac and Ava who he absolutely adored and loved. He would always light up whenever they came around.
Merv had such fond memories of when his grandson, Isaac would spend several hours cheering on their favourite hockey, football teams and of course golf. Memories with Ava were also cherished, as she would keep her Grandpa amused and entertained with whatever project she was involved with and in a family of men, she could do no wrong.
By Merv's request there will be no service, but he will remain in our thoughts and will be missed tremendously by his family and friends.
