October 13, 2020
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our mother Melba Jocelyn Kennedy (nee Embleton) on October 13, 2020.
Melba is predeceased by her mother Evelyn Goodwin (1995), her father Jocelyn Embleton (1998) and her brother Harold Embleton.
Melba will be deeply missed by her daughters Michelle (Sean), Jana (Greg) and Dari.
She is also survived by her grandchildren Jacob, Hayley, Ross, Noah, Charles, Max and James whom she loved dearly; her sisters Linda, Sine, Pati (Jim) and Janet (Dan) who were also very important parts of her life.
Melba was born in Alert Bay, BC and moved around a few BC coastal towns before making Nanaimo her home. She spent the majority of her working years with BCTel/Telus and worked at the Superstore briefly before retiring.
She had many friends and loved spending time with them and her family. She enjoyed travelling and making all kinds of different crafts, especially cards with her sister.
As per Melba's wishes, a small private service was held on October 22, 2020.
A special thank you to the palliative care unit at NRGH who treated her and her family with kindness, respect and dignity.
The family kindly asks that any donations wishing to be made on Melba's behalf be directed to the BC Cancer Society.
