Max Ursic

September 24, 1928 - June 17, 2021

Max passed away peacefully in the early morning of June 17, 2021 at Ty Watson House at 92 years of age.

He was surrounded with love from his family, and left us, knowing that his loving wife Maria, would be taken care of. This was Max's biggest concern, as Maria was his whole world and soulmate. They were married for 62 years. Max and Maria met at a young age at neighbouring villages in Slovenia. Max from Ravne and Maria from Magozd.

Max was born September 24, 1928 in Ravne, Slovenia. He came to Canada in 1954, and worked in Prince George for 1 1⁄2 years, then on to Kitimat, before moving to Port Alberni in 1957. He then gained employment at the pulp mill, until retiring in 1993.

Handsome Max couldn't stop thinking about pretty Maria. Maria was in Sudbury, Ont. by this time and moved to Port Alberni to marry Max in 1959. They built a wonderful home and family life together.

Max is predeceased by 12 siblings in Slovenia and Italy and great granddaughter, baby Mercer. Max is survived by his loving family, wife Maria, children Helena (Randy), Dario (Julie); grandchildren Jillian, Trevor (Melanie), Holly (Conner), Jesse (Blaire); great grandchildren Berkley, Oliver, Liam and Bauer.

His is also survived by his brother and sister- in-law Milan and Marika, of Port Alberni, and family, and extended family and many friends in Port Alberni, Slovenia, and Italy.

Max loved his family dearly, and he was proud of them all. He was always respected by everyone he knew and had worked with, because of his unfaltering work ethic, integrity, and morals.

He loved tending to his garden, plants, grapes and fruit trees, and so led a very organic lifestyle.

Many thanks go to Dr. Du Plessis, Dr. Johnson, Max's community care nurses, care aides and staff at Ty Watson House, whom no matter how much pain he was in, he always loved to have a good laugh with.

After Max's passing, church bells rang in memory of him, in The villages of Dreznica and Ravne, Slovenia.

He had a favourite expression, he would say to every one when saying goodbye.

So now we say to you, Our Dearest Max, Dad, Papa ... "Ciao Ciao" ...
