Diane (nee) Smith was born in Vancouver and lived in West Vancouver for many years. She passed away peacefully in the early morning hours at Comox Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband Bruce Fleetham, and her stepsister Shirley Henry (Merrill, dec.)
Lovingly remembered by her son Roy Fleetham (Bev), and sisters Joanne Tait (Roger, dec.) and Martha Newman (Bill). and by many long-time friends, including her Little River neighbours.
Diane was a great granddaughter of early Comox Valley settlers Horace and Amelia Smith. A lover of the outdoors and its many creatures, she was an accomplished and knowledgeable horsewoman, as well as being the pleased owner of a green thumb. An early enthusiasm for sewing clothes for herself led on to fashion modelling, and working as a swimsuit model for Rose Marie Reid Swimsuits in Vancouver.
