Maurice Bouillet passed away peacefully in Victoria on December 30th, 2022 surrounded by family.
He is survived by his children, Lavona, Alida (Stew), Alvie (Rhonda), Iva (Rod), Wanda (James), 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, sisters Annette and Marcella, brother Patrick and many nieces and nephews. Maurice was predeceased by his loving wife Laquita in 2020, sons-in-law Mike and Lee, his parents and seven siblings.
Born in Meadow Lake SK on November 22nd, 1931, Maurice moved to Nelson where he married Laquita in 1953. They raised their 5 children in the Kootenays living in Nelson, Cranbrook and in New Denver where they owned and operated Slocan Lake Hardware. They moved to Vancouver Island in 1981 where Maurice worked at the Mid-Island Co-op in Nanaimo, moving to Victoria in 2017.
Maurice will be remembered for his kind, gentle, demeanour and his sense of humour. He will be laid to rest in Nelson, alongside Laquita.
