It is with profound sadness and heartbreak we announce the sudden passing of Matthew Rockwell June 3, 2018 at 29 years of age.
Matt was born in Comox, BC, son of Randy and Melanie Rockwell, and for the past seven years worked as a construction contractor in the lower mainland. Matt was passionate about his work, the gym, spending time with family, and sports, especially watching games with his dad as big fans of the Seahawks and Blue Jays.
Matt was hard working and adventurous with a determination and work ethic that brought him great success in most everything he set his mind to. He enjoyed traveling, most recently exploring Mexico and playing slo-pitch with friends. He was humble and compassionate with such a kind big heart, always offering encouragement to others and would do anything for anyone.
Matt loved family dinners, never missing a holiday, celebration or invitation. Matt was always a great big brother, looked up to by both his brother Sam and sister Olivia. He especially loved being uncle to his 4-year-old nephew Brantley and 2-year-old niece Lillian.
Matthew is survived by his parents Melanie and Randy Rockwell, sister Olivia, brother Sam (Nicole), nephew Brantley and niece Lillian, grandparents Hugh and Lorna Humphrey, Arlene Rockwell along with many other extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his grandpa Doug Rockwell.
Matt's love, positive attitude, beautiful smile, and infectious laugh will live on in our hearts forever. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
A celebration of life was held on June 11th, 2018, thank you to all those who attended.
