Our beloved Mom passed away peacefully at Dwelling Place, Nanaimo, in her 99th year.

She was born in LeRoss Saskatchewan into an Hungarian farming community. During the depression Mom moved with her mom, four brothers and sister to Hamilton, Ontario. Her three brothers joined the armed services. Mom supported the war effort by working in a parachute factory. She picked up her nickname, Marie, while working there.

Mom met our Dad, Elwood (Woody) while he was stationed nearby in the Air Force. They were married in Hamilton and moved back to Victoria after the war. They raised two sons, Steve and Larry, before moving to Nanaimo where they welcomed their third son Alan.

Mom and Dad spent many happy times on their powerboat, “Sophie”, forging many friendships with other boaters from the Nanaimo Yacht Club and Nanaimo Power Squadron.

Predeceased by our Dad Woody, her husband of 70 years, and her four brothers and sister.

She is lovingly remembered by her children; Steve (Sandy), Larry (Gwen) and Alan (Sharon). Also remembered by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A kind and gentle soul, who will be missed.

We would like to thank Dwelling Place for their care and understanding during Moms last few years.
