Mary passed peacefully at the Comox Valley Seniors Village with her family by her side. Mary will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Our hearts are breaking with the loss of our Mom. Mary was affectionately known by many names, Ria, Ma, Mom, Mommy, Ra Ra, Grams and Grandma. Mary is predeceased by her spouse Daniel, daughter Therese, parents Edward and Josephine Ross, Patrick and Marie Lacree, sister Rose, brother Harold. She leaves behind to mourn: daughters Bev (Claude), Cheryl (Bill), Dawn (Mike), and Danielle; grandchildren Jesse, Danny, Joshua, David, Camille, Jean-Paul, Taylor, Meagan, Adam, Caitlin, Marie and Michael; brothers Eddie, Reggie, Bill; sisters Gladys, Charlotte, Jean, Alma and Eleanor; as well as her beloved dog Ellie.
Mary was born in Lorlie Saskatchewan where she met and married Danny Dumont in 1956. Dan joined the Air force shortly thereafter. They raised five girls over the years, moving from base to base. They eventually retired and settled in Comox. Mary was a stay at home Mom when the girlies were growing up. The girls could often be seen in their matching outfits, which Mom had sewn for them. Mary worked for many years at the Comox District Free Press once the girls were in school. Mary enjoyed crocheting, crafts and golfing over the years, later volunteering at St. Josephs Hospital front desk in her retirement. Mary was seen often walking around town enjoying dinners with a glass of wine and always enjoyed making people laugh.
In lieu of flowers, if so desired, donations in Mary's memory can be made to the research charity of your choice. Thank you for all the support from the staff at the Comox Valley Seniors Village.
Mass will be at Christ the King Church on 1599 Tunner Drive Courtenay, BC, Thursday November 22, 2018 at 1 pm followed by the procession to Courtenay Civic Cemetery on Mission Hill, followed by a Reception/Celebration of Life at Christ the King Church.
