Died October 29, 2017 in Victoria, B.C. Born in Simpson, SK - one of 10 children to Hugh & Isabella McGifford.

Survived by son, Stewart Larson, Comox, B.C., daughter, Ruth Larson (John Betts), Victoria, B.C., brother John McGifford (Lauretta), Truro, N.S., and many nieces and nephews.

Mary moved with her family to BC in 1945. She lived and worked in Penticton and Courtenay in retail management, until she married Sigurd O. Larson in 1959 ("the happiest day of my life"), a military man, and moved to Nova Scotia. Her two children were born in Nova Scotia. They enjoyed travel as a military family - living in France, Belgium, and New Brunswick before returning to the Comox Valley in 1969.

Mary was widowed in 1998, after providing loving care to her husband in his last years. She kept family at the centre of her life and was a devoted wife and mother, sister, and friend/neighbour. She had a strong faith that she lived quietly yet powerfully.

Mary moved to Victoria in 2014 so family could provide care and support as she faced her own health issues.

Mum was always positive in spirit, with a healthy dose of common sense that helped her to enjoy life despite her health challenges.

She was a loving and supportive mother. We could not have asked for better. May her smile and spirit be remembered.

Rest in peace, mum.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the Old House Hotel, Courtenay BC.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Victoria Eldercare Foundation or Victoria Hospice appreciated.
