It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marv at age seventy-eight. He passed peacefully with family by his side in Nanaimo Hospital after a long battle with Cancer.
Marv was born in Vancouver B.C. and raised on Texada Island B.C. until the age of fourteen when the family moved to Powell River B.C. There he attended Max Cameron High School, and helped run the family Westview Centre Motel, and then worked at the Mill for MacMillan Bloedel.
In 1963 he moved his family to Nanaimo B.C. To work at Harmac where he thoroughly enjoyed Sawmilling until his retirement in 2000.
Marv liked sports and played Sr. Mens Fastball for many years. He also Bowled, Golfed, and enjoyed golfing trips and vacationing throughout B.C. and the western states, especially Nevada. These were all times he fondly recalled. Among other interests he really enjoyed his daily crib games with his wife Madeline and watching a good baseball game.
Marv is Survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Madeline, his son Michael (Diane), his daughter Marlonn (Michael). Grandsons Cale and Hayden(Jessica) His brother Jack, sisters-in-law Madelon, Nikki, Marie, Sharleine, Valerie, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents Daniel and Ida, brothers Donald (Leita), Lloyd, Wilfred, Ronald, and Roger, and his sister Joyce(Dale), and sister-inlaws Gloria and Sylvia (Ron).
The Family are truly thankful and grateful for the exceptional care Marv received from all of the caring staff, frontline workers, and Doctors along the way from the Cancer Clinic in Victoria to the Palliative Care unit in Nanaimo. Your thoughtfulness, and compassion will never be forgotten.
