In loving memory ~
On February 7, with her 3 daughters by her side, Martha passed into the presence of her Lord.
Martha was predeceased by her husband Keith in 2001, and her brother Gerry in October 2022.
She is survived by her dear sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and Harold Fladager, her children Deb (Sandy) Ribeyre, Wendy (Keith) Nakagawa, Jay, Jill (James) Reynolds, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Martha was born on the family farm in the Minitonas district of Manitoba. Her family moved to Vancouver during her teen years where she enjoyed the fashion, cars, and fun of the 1950s. In 1962 Martha married Keith, and in 1967, they moved to Port Alberni, where Keith was employed by School District 70.
Mom was a dedicated homemaker raising her 4 kids. The shelves were always stocked with home-canned fruit from the Okanagan and salmon from local waters. Summers would find her loading up the kids in the green station wagon to spend the day at Qualicum Beach. Martha was an accomplished seamstress and cake decorator and taught both at night school. She later provided daycare to many children. Mom was comforted in her senior years by her faith.
The family greatly appreciates all the care and kindness given to our mom by the staff at Fir Park Village. Mom thrived during this period of her life with love and laughter.
A private family service will be held in the near future.
