It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Aunty Margie. She was born and raised in Nanaimo and passed away peacefully at Dufferin Place on Monday, April 1, 2019 at the grand age of 92.
Aunty Margie was predeceased by her Papa Giovanni (John), and Mama Maria Cuffolo, her sister Josie (Tom) Leigh, brothers Fred (Iris), Alfie and Remo, Nephew Ron (Ada) Leigh and great-nephew Greg McCann.
She was a devoted daughter, sister and aunt and will be lovingly remembered by her 2 nieces, Wendy Calvin and Anita McCann, Great- nieces Debra Leigh and Cathy McCann, Great-nephews, Jason Calvin, Martin Leigh and David McCann, Great-Great-niece Karima Baptiste- McCann, Great-Great nephew James (Kirsten) McCann and Great-Great- Great nephew Easton McCann.
Margie graduated from John Shaw High School in 1945. For the next 30 years worked as a legal secretary for a few lawyers until she retired in 1975 to look after her Papa and brothers at home.
She liked gardening, playing bingo, but mostly taking Remo to the casino to play the slot machines.
A memorial service will be held at First Memorial Funeral Services, 1720 Bowen Road, Nanaimo on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at 11am. Reception to follow at Cavallotti Lodge, 2060 E Wellington Rd, Nanaimo, BC.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of BC, 4-4488 Wellington Road Nanaimo, V9T 2H3 or the charity of their choice.
We would like to thank Dr. Kaban and the nurses, care-workers and activity staff of Arbutus Wing, Dufferin Place for taking such good care of our Aunt. Your kindness to her is truly appreciated.
