March 14, 1933 - November 15, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Marion. She passed peacefully in her sleep at the Discovery Care Center, with family by her side. The family would like thank all the health care staff for the wonderful care our mother, for the last years of her life.
She was loved by all who encountered her at the home. She was a wonderful Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and a loyal friend and fierce advocate for all who knew her.
Predeceased by her husband Glen of 60+ years and her son Daniel. Survived by her sons and daughters, and a large extended family, which she had a great love for.
In her early years, she grew up in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. One of her fondest memories was attending Notre Dame of the Prairies School. Mom was never an NHL fan but she loved The Notre Dame Hounds.
Early in her life, she met the love of her life, Glen, who became her lifetime companion, till his passing.
Marion, joined the great exodus of prairie folk moving westward and arrived with her husband, and her five children to Campbell River. She often recounted the vast difference between living in the thriving metropolis of Moose Jaw and her new town, Campbell River, which at the time, boasted the Willows Hotel, a few stores and a population of about 3500.
In the early years she worked at Preston's, Robinson's, had the Vancouver Province delivery franchise, and eventually ended up working at the hospital until her retirement.
Mom loved music. Archival photos of early parades will show her marching with the Campbell River concert band beating on her Bass drum.
Her real love though, was spiritual music. She was a member of St. Patrick's choir for many years, and even took a stint as choir director. She loved to share her love of singing, singing at weddings, funerals and concerts.
As a member of the CWL (Catholic Women's League) she championed their cause with a passion and was tireless in her dedication of service to the parish.
Sadly, the singer has passed but we rejoice that her song will go on and continue to uplift those who loved and who will remember her.
A service for Marion, will be held at the St. Patrick's church on December 3rd at 3 pm with a Celebration of life to follow.
