March 23, 1940 - December 30, 2020
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Marilyn 'Teddy' Powell. Teddy passed away peacefully at Qualicum Manor, her home for the past two years. She was 80 years old.
Teddy will be greatly missed by her daughter, Carrie (Mike) Powell-Davidson, son Rick (Lucie) Powell, Grandchildren Courtney (Andrew) Eubank, Colton Davidson, Mandy (Andrew) Bentley, Great Grand-daughter, Aurora Sarauer and many, many friends and relatives. She was predeceased by her partner, Stan Docksteader and her beloved fur-baby, Tippy Two.
Teddy was born in Vancouver and raised by her Grandmother, Jane Bernard, whom she loved dearly. She attended Catholic school where the nuns recognized and encouraged her artistic talents, a lifelong passion.
At 19, she married Bill Powell and moved to Powell River where she spent the next 20 years being the best mom ever! At 38, Teddy moved to Nanaimo to study nursing, a career she excelled at. Following a move back to Vancouver, she reunited with an old family friend and they fell in love instantly. Teddy and Stan spent many happy years together and upon their retirements, they purchased 'Lukona' and moved to Qualicum Bay.
Teddy loved art, cooking, gardening and travelling especially the annual family treks to Melaque, Mexico. She was creative, kind and fiercely independent. Teddy had many challenges in life but she faced each one with grace, determination and that beautiful smile.
The family would like to thank the staff at Qualicum Manor and Little Mountain Manor for their exceptional care of their beloved mother during the past 6 years.
'Adios Theodora B. B.! We love you more than 10,000 sockeye salmon!
