Marie was born at home on a stormy night, at midnight, in Hespero, AB. Her father delivering her. He was a harness and saddle maker for show horses (Great West Saddlery in Winnipeg). Her mother was a seamstress and mother of 10. Her parents also grew grain and raised farm animals. Marie went to Gates school, in a one-room schoolhouse, grades 1-9 (30 students). She rode a horse to school (named Beaver). Lunch was syrup sandwiches with homemade bread, carried in an empty syrup bucket. As a young girl, Marie would fill empty bottles with water and food colouring and place them on her bedroom windowsill. Marie was awarded prizes in Math and English. She went to Innisfail, AB for grade 10. Marie sang with her brother Bob at school concerts. She finished her high schooling (Gr 11 and 12) at St. Joseph Convent in Red Deer, AB. She lived in Erickson, BC, had 4 children, grew roses, flowers and a large vegetable garden. Marie and husband John were fruit farmers. Marie was the bookkeeper for the garage they built (Skyway Esso). Marie loved playing piano (self-taught) and liked collecting dolls. Marie (Meme) was a very fun and beautiful grandmother of 16. She had an eye for home d├ęcor and loved fashion. Before she would answer her door, she would quickly fix her hair and put a bit of makeup on. In heaven, she is happily greeted by her 9 siblings, mother, father, husband John, grandsons Josh and Brandon, friends and relatives. And her many loved animals.
