October 2, 1928 - August 3, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marie-Elisabeth von Poser und Gross-Naedlitz (née von Zitzewitz). She will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
Born and raised in Pomerania, Germany, Elisabeth followed Klaus, the love of her life, to Canada in 1952 where they found their little slice of heaven in Campbell River. Life was a complete "restart" for Elisabeth and Klaus - new country, new language, new customs! Campbell River became their beloved home, though Elisabeth never lost touch with where she came from. Her German heritage, infused with the customs and traditions of her childhood, was shared with her ever-growing family in Canada.
Family was everything to Elisabeth. She was beloved "Mutti" to her children, and cherished "Omama" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She taught us all about the importance of nurturing and raising children in a home filled with love, inspiration, imagination, and education.
Elisabeth's legacy will live on in all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Klaus, of 68 years of marriage; her children Nick (Lynda), Sabine (Tom), and Claudia (Dave); 8 grandchildren (and spouses) and 8 great-grandchildren (with another on the way); and 2 siblings in Germany.
We would like to give a heartfelt thanks to Elisabeth's long-time care aide and companion, Scotia Spooner, for everything she has done to support our mother and family. We also would like to thank Dr. Sathie Naicker and the nursing staff on 3A at Campbell River Hospital, who provided Elisabeth with loving care and kindness until the end.
The family will be having a private service in memory of Elisabeth due to COVID-19 restrictions.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the BC Children's Hospital would be very much appreciated.
