Georgina Dalton, 85, of Comox, BC, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Aug 3, 2022 at Glacier View Lodge with her family at her side.
Born May 12, 1937 in Blaine Lake, Saskatchewan, the eldest of 8 siblings, Georgina grew up mostly in Flin Flon, Manitoba.
Georgina served in the RCAF from 1959 to 1964, where she met her future husband James Russel Dalton, while both were serving at RCAF Station Gimli. Son Gregory was born in 1964, and following a posting to Europe, daughter Alisa was born at RCAF Station Baden-Soellingen, Germany in 1965.The couple's final posting was to CFB Comox, in 1973, where they both fell in love with the Comox Valley.
Georgie soon put her bookkeeping skills to work at a small tax preparation service. She then moved on to ESL teaching and tutoring, before finding her true calling - as a caregiver for adults with special needs. A breast cancer survivor, Georgina spent her senior years as busy as possible. One of the original members of the Hope Afloat Dragon Boat Society in Comox, she was also actively involved with her Church, as well as a stint with the local Red Hatters.
Predeceased by her husband of 57 years Russel Dalton, in August 2020.
Survived by daughter, Alisa Dalton of Comox, BC; granddaughters Isabelle Miron and Gabrielle Miron; and son, Gregory Dalton, of Comox, BC.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the Staff of Glacier View Lodge for their excellent care and support.
A small service will be held graveside, Thursday August 18, 2022 11AM, at Courtenay Civic Cemetery.
Donations are welcomed to Glacier View Lodge or the Alzheimer Society of BC.
