In Loving Memory ~
Our family are saddened to share the news of the passing of Marguerite Tickell a couple of weeks shy of her 100th birthday.
Predeceased by her husband Bill (March 2008), sister Dorothy and brother John.
Survived by sons Chris (Gwen) and Rob (Karen), 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, brothers Bob (Linda) and Bill (Reina).
An avid sports fan, in particular Major League baseball, stock car racing at Grandview Bowl and Nanaimo Timbermen lacrosse. Everyone at Timbermen games knew by her enthusiastic cheering when she was in attendance at the Civic Arena.
Marguerite had many hobbies, including needlework, pottery and cake decorating. She won numerous trophies for 5 pin bowling. Marguerite and Bill enjoyed square dancing and travelled throughout B.C. attending jamborees.
For many decades she held the Tickell family record for landing a 57 pound Chinook on one of many fishing trips to China Creek.
After Bill retired, they travelled in their motorhome throughout northern Canada and south to Baja, Mexico several times.
Our gratitude to the Health Care Providers and staff at Cumberland Lodge for all their kindness and for keeping Marguerite comfortable and safe over the past several years.
No service by request. A family celebration of Marguerite's life will be held at a later date. She was a wonderful mother and we miss her.
