In loving memory ~
Margarita passed away in her home with her daughter and son-in-law by her side after her short but brave fight with lung cancer. She is survived by her daughter, Byrona, son-in-law, Matt, and her two grandsons, Austin and Forrest, all of whom she loved fiercely and who loved her back in equal measure.
Born in Cebu, Philippines, she was one of ten children. With big dreams, she came to Victoria, BC in 1974, where she worked hard to support her family back home. She moved to Sooke in 1989 after marrying Byron "Vic" Tweedy at Holy Trinity Church and realized her dream of becoming a mother that same year at 44 years old. She witnessed the birth of her grandsons in 2020 and again in 2022 and became a very proud Lola.
Despite the beautiful life she built here, she never forgot of her family back home. She continued to support and sponsor her Filipino family until the day she passed. She is a legacy for the Cañedo family.
Her generosity, kindness and positive spirit will be forever missed and never forgotten.
Friends and family are invited to attend her funeral at Holy Trinity Church on Saturday August 3rd from 11am with a reception following.
