March 12, 1929 - March 24, 2022
Mom died in Abbotsford, at age 92, following several years of decline due to dementia. She was born in Mayfair, Saskatchewan and moved to Black Creek, BC in 1939.
She married her childhood sweetheart, Peter Schulz, there in 1949 and during their 65 years of marriage they resided in Black Creek, Lillooet, and Ashcroft, BC.
Mom worked alongside Dad in many business ventures while being a most awesome mother and Oma. Her interests were numerous and over the years included: hiking, skiing, exploring the back roads in a camper van, yoga, tai chi, music, winemaking, TOPS, gardening, birdwatching, and all kinds of crafts.
She had superb cooking skills, a well stocked kitchen and pantry, and an extensive collection of cookbooks and recipes. Delicious food - freshly-baked Zwieback, family favourites, adventurous main dishes, and various baked treats - were all part of family visits.
Recipes and memories live on: spaghetti sauce, mashed potatoes almondine, 'from scratch' macaroni and cheese, dill pickles, and chipits oatmeal cookies come to mind. However, there is some debate over which were better - her German or 'regular' pancakes.
Visits frequently included picture puzzles and always daily walks with the current family dog.
Mom, Oma, Margaret will be greatly missed by: son Neil (Judy), daughter Laura More (Larry); grandchildren Heather More, Colin More, Dale Calder. Also missed by brother Jake Friesen (Jane); sisters Mary Ann Mulligan and Helen Arlitt; sister-in-law Ann Wiebe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by husband Peter and daughter Carol.
There will be no formal service, however Mom would be pleased if you took a moment to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature.
A gentle woman with a kind and caring heart.
