She was "Louise" of the movie character in Thelma and... with her bff Arlene, who remembers as we all will, the life of our friend and family member, Margaret Rose Hansen, who has passed away.
Born July 16, 1958 in Ladysmith, BC to John and Joan Hansen (nee Spencer), Margaret took her leave September 23, 2020, at home in Duncan, BC. She was predeceased by her parents and mother's son, brother Gordon (Marilyn). Margaret is survived by son Jon-Karl Scott Hansen, sister Wendy Chamberlin (Earle), nieces Yvonne, Theresa, Alyne and many friends and colleagues.
Margaret loved Vancouver Island, having graduated from Cowichan Secondary. She studied for a time at VIU. She took a sabbatical at the millenium and continued studies at University of Alberta, Edmonton where she lived with her son and former husband Ed Lacrosse.
They enjoyed the NFL together and Margaret had a varied work life. She was a trained hair stylist for most of it, and for fun, her love of water drew her to rafting the North Saskatchewan River.
Margaret loved driving her White PT Cruiser, playing card games, enjoying hunting, fishing, partying and being together with her main life love, Dennis. They separated and Margaret returned to the Island where Dennis was to follow but sadly, he departed this world before that happened.
Back near her favorite water, Margaret dipped her foot into the Pacific. She tubed the Cowichan River, continued briefly in the beauty salon, and then chose work, professionally driving a pub shuttle and for 2 local taxi companies for years, until her passing.
Margaret's incredible blue eyes were her beauty gift.
She will be very much missed by Jessy, her pup, her friends and family and colleagues. A gathering to honour her life and memory will be announced in the future, when protocols allow. In the meantime, messages of love and memories can be posted at Facebook, 'Memories of Margaret'.
