August 14, 1913 - January 3, 2023
In loving memory ~
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of "Peggy", in her 110th year, at the Nanaimo Seniors Village on January 3rd, 2023.
Peggy was born in South Wellington (Nanaimo) on August 14th, 1913. She was predeceased by her parents Edward and Ellen Carroll, her husband Burt in 1986, brothers Frank, Edward and Alex and step-brother John.
Peggy's mother was ill for many years, leaving Peggy, the youngest of the family, to care for her and tend to the home for the five miners in the family.
Peggy married Burt Schofield, moved from South Wellington to Nanaimo and son George was born in 1943. She resided her entire life in the area enjoying family, friends, her home and her garden. After Burt's passing, she remained in her apartment until the age of 97, then moved to Lakeside Gardens and eventually the Nanaimo Seniors Village, where she found the fellowship of staff and many friends.
Peggy was fortunate in having good health throughout her long life and was never one to complain about her situation or care.
Peggy is survived by her son George (Darlene), step-granddaughter Judine (Wendell Maki) and family Kylan and Ashtyn of Nelson, B.C. also step-granddaughter Gail (Len Thomson) and family Branton and Jaidan of Nanaimo. Several nieces and nephews also continue to live in the area. All will miss her dearly.
The family would like to thank Dr. Kaban and the fantastic staff and nurses of the NSV, for their excellent care and compassion for Peggy over the last ten years. They made her feel very special!
There will be no service by request and flowers are gratefully declined.
