March 3, 1938 - June 7, 2025

In loving memory ~

Margaret Mazzoni, 87, of Ucluelet, British Columbia left us peacefully on June 7th, 2025.

Margaret was born in Todmorden, England, on March 3rd, 1938, to Bernard and Marion Stott and sister Dorothy. Margaret moved to Fair Harbour, British Columbia in her late twenties, where she met Felix, her husband, in a logging community. They moved to Ucluelet in the late 60's where she continued her passion for education, music and the arts that shaped her life and the lives of her children. As one of the founders of the Pacific Rim Arts Society (PRAS), Margaret helped to shape Ucluelet's music and arts scene.

She was an accomplished pianist, sharing her knowledge by teaching kids and adults within the community, and she continued to play duets with her close friend into her final days. She was a beloved Ucluelet and Tofino choir member, always looking forward to the next spirited practice and performance. Passionate about gardening, she loved her roses and rhododendrons that surrounded her home. Her love of nature also saw her spend many years walking the wild pacific trail and hiking along the many local beaches with friends.

Margaret truly had the extraordinary gift for nurturing deep, lasting bonds with those around her. A loving mother, grandmother and friend, she warmly welcomed people into her home and loved living in Ucluelet until her final day. The conversations around her kitchen table were often filled with laughter and clever wit that her friends and family will remember fondly. She was always ready for another cup of tea (Earl Grey, two sugars please!) and a little something sweet. In her quiet time, she enjoyed watching tennis or skating, and listening to classical music. Always close at hand was a crossword book where she applied her passion for words and language.

Margaret was married for 51 years to Felix who preceded her in death. She is survived by her children Elizabeth, Felice and Peter (Erin), and six grandchildren. A small, intimate gathering to celebrate Margaret's life will be held on Saturday, July 19th, 2025 at 1pm at the Ucluelet Community Centre.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Pacific Rim Arts Society to continue to support the arts on the west coast.
