March 30, 1929 - September 13, 2021
Margaret was born in Bonnyrigg, Scotland and was the youngest of 6 children (4 brothers and 1 sister). She left school at the age of 14 to train as a Hairdresser. She spent three years apprenticing in salons in Edinburgh all while attending night school.
In 1949, she married John who was her husband for 71 years. They had three children, Michael, Ruth and Louise. They emigrated in 1968 to Comox where she operated her own hairdressing salon for most of her life as well as worked at Cumberland Hospital as a Hairdresser.
As soon as she arrived in Comox she joined the Royal Purple where she spent many happy years with friends helping the Comox Valley community. She was also proud to be an Honoured Royal Lady three times. Mum was a kind, caring person who gave more than she took. She was quiet but had some great zingers when she did speak. She will be greatly missed.
She was predeceased by her husband John, son Michael and son in law Bob. She is survived by her daughters Ruth and Louise(Scott) and her grandchildren (Robyn, Aaron, Chelsea, Dean, Sydney and Holly) as well as all her great grandchildren.
A private ceremony will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
The family would like to thank the staff at North Island/Courtenay Hospital, Christine MacIntosh, Dr. Frolic, Dr. Harris and all the healthcare staff at the Comox Valley Seniors Village.
