It is with heavy hearts that we announce Malcolm's passing after his long and brave battle with cancer.
Malcolm is survived by his devoted wife Sharon, who he would do anything for and who was smitten with Malcolm at first sight; beloved daughters Kathleen and Linda (Riley); brother Ralph (Loretta), niece Cindy (Mark), grandchildren Elliot, Oleanna and Annelise; and many more nieces and nephews, friends whose lives he has touched, all of whom will remember him fondly.
Throughout his life Malcolm enjoyed working hard and in the outdoors, from logging in Sooke as a young man, to manning the Estevan Point lighthouse, to longshoring in Vancouver and on Vancouver Island.
Malcolm will be remembered by all who knew him for his generous and gentle spirit and for never losing his childlike sense of adventure and fun. He was quick to laughter, an ideal friend, the first to lend a hand, and keen for any game or adventure, from go-karting with his daughters to his love of all aerial adventures to water-fights with his grandchildren. He was the biggest kid, as well as the most gracious host and attentive caregiver.
To honour Malcolm's memory it would be fitting to feed the birds (or the deer!), play a game of ping-pong, have a second dessert and get the giggles, hike in nature, dance with your partner in the kitchen, paint everything fire-engine red, invite a friend or three for lunch, buy your wife flowers, fill up a water balloon, never sit down, build a suspension bridge in your backyard, visit a toy store - or simply remind your loved ones that they can always count on you.
