It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Sister & Aunt Mahinder (Mindo) Manhas.
Mindo was born at King's Daughters Hospital in Duncan B.C. and passed away peacefully at Cowichan District Hospital on Monday, September 10th after a brief illness.
Predeceased by her parents Lashman Singh and Maha Kaur, husband Balbir, daughter Harjeet and sister Harbans Kaur (Betty) Doman.
Survived by her daughter Cindy, sister Harjinder (Helen) Doman, brothers Suhkdave (Dave) and Ojmar (Terry, wife Kaycee), close nephews Devin and Darin (Dani), her very special great nephews Lennox and Levi. Nieces and Nephews Darcia, Sherry, Verinda, Rick, and Jerry (Ronnie), Ronnie (Sharon), Randy (Jas) and Indira.
Mindo grew up in Paldi and Duncan, married in 1952, she then moved to Victoria to raise her family, she was a very devoted wife and mother. In the later years she split time between Victoria and Duncan to be close to her daughter Cindy and brother Dave and his family.
After two recent hip surgeries she then moved to Duncan to Cerwydden Care Home to be close to family and get the proper care.
A special thank you to the Staff at Cerwydden for the few years she spent there and the Doctors and Nurses at the Cowichan District Hospital.
A Memorial Service will be held at H.W. Wallace Cremation and Burial Centre at 5285 Polkey Road, Duncan, B.C. on Sunday, September 16th at 11am followed by Cremation at the Paldi Crematorium and Service and Langar at Paldi Sikh Temple (off Lake Cowichan Highway).
