July 25, 1949 - January 25, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mother on the 25th of January 2021 in the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. She is survived by her Mother, Sherry, her three sons, Tim, Eric, and Nick, her Brothers Reid and Blair, and her husband, Dan. Lynne passed away after a bout of cancer and a short hospital stay.
Always a voracious reader, our Mom left us with a love of reading and learning, and the most books of anyone I know. Born in Victoria on the 25th of July 1949, she would always talk about how much the city had grown since she had lived there. She moved to Nanaimo as a child and graduated from Nanaimo District Secondary School.
Her adventures since high school were legion; too many to list here. Some highlights included marrying an American fella, and moving down to San Diego for a few years. She later travelled throughout Europe where she she met and married her second husband Dave Edwards where they lived in Manchester for a couple years.
Our first memories of her were in the 90's when she had a tremendous love for animals, and living off of the land. She taught us how to raise goats, pigs, chickens and her beloved dog Rusty. She also showed us how to garden, where the perennials like rhubarb and raspberries that she planted still produce fruit to this day. Her love of reading led her to open the neon cactus bookstore in Cedar which never made any money, but allowed her to do what she loved while meeting people and making friends.
She worked in the family sign business for many years, along with other bookstores in the city. Her last job before she retired was at Millway store in Cedar where she learned all of the gossip and stories of what her sons had been up to when she wasn't paying attention.
Overall, Mom taught all of us to be level headed, patient, and caring. She was well liked by everyone who knew her, and will be missed by many.
