Luitje Klaas Tromp

August 29, 2019

April 10, 1956 - August 29, 2019
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Lou Tromp. After a courageous battle with cancer Lou passed away peacefully with Alice, his wife of 40 years, faithfully by his side. He also leaves to mourn their two daughters: Colleen (Devon) VanVeen and Cheryl Tromp (Dave); three grandsons: Trayke, Tyson and Jeremiah VanVeen; two brothers: Jelmer (Wendy) Tromp and Ralph (Ginny) Tromp as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
Born and raised in Duncan, Lou had a love for the outdoors that led to a long career in the Forest Industry as a Registered Professional Forester. He studied at UBC, and his career took Lou, Alice and their daughters to live in Williams Lake and Smithers. During the summers Lou enjoyed camping with his family and running the Tromp U-Pick Strawberry Farm. Lou and Alice returned to Vancouver Island several years ago in preparation for his retirement.
A private interment service will be held on Friday, September 6 and a Memorial service will held at the Duncan Christian Reformed Church, 930 Trunk Road, on Saturday, September 7 at 1:30 pm with a tea to follow.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Lou's memory to the Christian Reformed World Relief Committee (CRWRC) or Chemainus Health Care Foundation. Condolences may be offered online at www.sandsduncan.ca.
