Louis Byleveld

October 24, 2017

Byleveld, Louis passed away peacefully in Parksville with family by his side on October 24, 2017 at the age of 82.

Louis is predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Sharon, as well as 3 brothers.

He is survived by his children Deb (Peter), Jeanette (Duane) and Martin; grandchildren Breanne (Max), Danielle (Jesse), Andrea (Darren) and Brian (Alisha); great grandchildren Sullivan, Lucy, Miles, Calvin and Rae as well as siblings in Holland and extended family in Ontario.

Louis came to Canada when he was 19 years of age, working on farms in the Prairies before coming to Vancouver and Vancouver Island.  Louis was such a caring and giving person that even after a career as a Social Worker he always took the time to offer help, support and an ever listening ear to people.   He had the unique ability to see the beauty and goodness in every person he met and shared his love of God to all.

Even into his advanced years, he gave his time to others and would say that he liked to spend time 'visiting the elderly'. He had a wonderful, gentle sense of humour.

Louis and Sharon spent much time ocean kayaking and camping the many tiny islands surrounding Vancouver Island and left many foot prints together on the beaches of Tofino.  Louis also spent a great deal of time swimming at Echo Pool and often mentioned how grateful he was of his many friends there.

Louis's family would like to extend gratitude to all the staff of Stanford Place for their wonderful care and love.

Special thanks to Cor and Helena Poland who included Louis in everything.  As well, sincere thanks to Tammy, Dr Henderson and Dr Fletcher.

A Funeral Service will be held at 12:30 pm, Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Alberni Valley Christian Reformed Church, 5033 Roger St, Port Alberni B.C., with Pastor Curtis Korver officiating.
