Lorraine passed away in Nanaimo BC on Wednesday September 30, 2020. Lorraine was predeceased by her first husband Bert Suter in 1995 and by her 2nd husband Norman Trim in 2004. Lorraine was born and raised in the north end of Winnipeg. She attended St John's High School and was active at St Martin in the Fields Anglican church.
After graduation Lorraine worked at Manitoba Telephone System in the repair services department. This is where she met Bert. They married and had 5 children. Each time Bert got a big promotion, it was in a different community so they lived in Dauphin, Brandon and Thompson before moving back to Winnipeg.
Lorraine and Bert retired to Nanaimo BC and loved life on the island.
Family was very important so there were lots of camping trips and Sunday drives and family gatherings.
Lorraine will be sadly missed by her children Reay (Corry) Suter, Cathy (Sheldon) Itscovich, Joan (Ron) Young, Janet (Dwight) Hazen and Fred (Attiya) Suter. She will also be missed by her sister Joan Warren of Calgary, her brother John Reay of Kelowna BC, as well as 8 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and 6 nieces and nephews.
Lorraine was a helper and a care giver. She was always involved in volunteer work for Lion's Club, Loaves and Fishes Food Bank in Nanaimo, and her church to name only a few.
When her children were teenagers, Lorraine went to night school to complete a nurse's aide course and worked at the Thompson General Hospital. She said her favourite job was night shift in the nursery. She loved babies and night shift is when they all got bathed and pampered.
Lorraine was a social butterfly and made friends everywhere she went. She was always the first to pitch in if help was needed and seemed to have endless energy.
Cremation has taken place at Telford's and because of the Covid 19 pandemic a small private funeral will be held at a later date. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society.
Warmest thanks for the compassionate care she received from the staff at Wexford Creek Care Home in Nanaimo.
