It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Lorena Stella Lorenz on Wednesday, December 25, 2019 at the age of 97.
Stella was predeceased by her loving husband of 73 years Adolph (AI), and her son-in-law Joe Tomkinson. She is survived by her son Garry (Mary Ann), daughter Beatrice Tomkinson, and son Keith (Gail).
She has 7 Granddaughters; Sheryl Fielden, Tracy Tomkinson, Kerry (Troy) Mutch, Trena Lorenz, Aren (Paul) Burrell, Lindsay (Adam) Thompson, and Sara (Nick Maycher) Lorenz.
Stella also has 13 Great Grandchildren; Cody, Cadence, Issac, and Lucas Mutch, Darryl Harrison, Brittany (Steve) Belanger, Tyler Fielden, Kevin (Chelsea) Fielden, Ashley and Taylor Ellis, Bastien and Theoren Burrell, and Marshall Thompson.
Stella is also blessed with 4 Great Great Grandchildren; Hannah, Dylan, Logan Belanger, and Joseph Fielden.
After she was married in 1940, Stella worked a number of different occupations as well as raising 3 children. After moving off the farm, she was the owner operator of a cafe, a telephone operator, worked for the dairy pool, cooked for a road construction crew, and was co-owner/operator of an automotive service center, laundromat and car wash.
Stella and AI retired to the Courtenay area in 1979 after previously living in Alberta. She was an active golfer, curler, bowler, and belonged to different bridge clubs.
Coming from a large family of 8 brothers and 2 sisters, keeping in touch with them and the multitude of nieces and nephews, as well as her own large family, was a passion for her. Stella prided herself on remembering everyone's names, birthdates, anniversary dates, children's names and birthdates for her and Al's family members.
A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
