July 10, 1931 - March 12, 2021
Linda Rosalie Fox, née Venes, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, potter, painter, and friend passed peacefully at North Island Hospital March 12, 2021 with her children by her side.
Born in Brighton, England July 10, 1931, Linda married Eric Fox, also of Brighton, on August 13, 1949, and in 1954 moved to Canada to join and support him in his life attached to the Royal Canadian Engineers.
For the next 25 years she handled over 20 moves with her children to stations in Chilliwack, Germany, Petawawa, Picton, Montreal, and Gypsumville, finishing up in the best place of all, the Comox Valley, where she lived on Hector Road for the past 45 years.
After mourning Eric's death (November 2014), Linda emerged to approach the rest of her life with great courage and creativity. Supported by her children, kind neighbours, and her many new friends at d'Esterre House Seniors' Centre, she learned to play bridge, to carpet bowl, and remarkably, to become a terrific potter.
She also maintained her already well-developed skills as a painter, gardener, and baker.
Left to mourn Linda's passing are her son Bernie, granddaughter Siobhan; daughter Chris, daughter-in-law, Arleen, and their children (Peter & Jesse) and grandchildren (Jackson, Max, Ella). She will also be missed by her many dear friends and neighbours, especially Shannon, Lorrie, Pat, and Pam and Wayne who all eased the years following her husband's death. Linda is also survived by her elder sister, Jill in Yorkshire, and several nieces and nephews, and their children across England.
Her family offer heartfelt gratitude to her friends, to the helpful people at Casa Loma, (her home after January 4th, 2021), to the medical staff at North Island Hospital, and most especially to the very kind and capable Dr. Reggler. Our mum's effervescent, quirky, clever, and positive personality drew all to her. There will be no formal service, in accordance with her wishes and the pandemic times.
