October 12, 1944 - April 1, 2021
While deeply saddened by the peaceful passing of Linda Muriel Billings, we will celebrate the life of a wonderful and caring wife, sister, sister-in-law, mother, stepmother, grandmother, great grandmother, cousin, aunt, friend and volunteer.
Linda grew up in Edmonton, Alberta. She attended McKernan Elementary and Strathcona Composite High School, where she made life-long friendships. Then on to NAIT, where she was a proud member of the first graduating class of The Dental Assisting school in 1964.
Linda fell in love with Jasper Alberta as a child and all her life she has kept a deep attachment to the beautiful mountain town and the friendships that began there.
In 1978 Linda met Brad, her husband of almost 40 years, in the dental office where she worked, and they were married in 1982.
Linda spent over forty years in the Dentistry Field in Edmonton until her retirement in 2006. That same year, Linda and Brad made the exciting move to Courtenay, BC and they called it home since then. The mountains, ocean and temperate weather drew them here, but their neighbours, friends, and acquaintances are what have made these years the best ones of their lives.
The Courtenay Healthy Families Program (aka her mother's group) was the most rewarding of Linda's volunteer positions which she joyfully carried out for over eleven years. Linda loved holding the babies while their moms ate the lunch that she had helped to prepare!
She and Brad also volunteered with the Tsolum River Restoration Society in the Comox Valley for several years.
Linda's many talents included quilting, sewing, and she was an awesome chef and baker!!! She loved to entertain and distribute her lovely hand-crafted gifts and delicacies.
She was stepmom to Daryl (Joan), Tom (Irja), Rob (Sheree), Diana (Neil) and David. She was Grandmother to Andrea (Will), Jonathan, Matthew, Jennifer (Chris), Tara (Jeremie), Amberly, Alysse (Liam), Asia (Cory) and Merlin. Her great grandkids are Fenn, Charlie (Charlotte), Nevaeh and Tia.
Linda was predeceased by her son Danny Gordon, her parents, Gordon and Chrissie Provost, brother Allan Provost and her nephew, Douglas Provost, and her cousin, Dale Provo.
Linda leaves behind husband Bradley; her brother Murray (Georgia) and nephews Rod, Dave and Jim; her brother Allan's widow, Sue and their children: Donald, David, Christopher, Jennifer and Christine; and Linda's cousin and close friend, Phyllis Provo.
The family would like to sincerely thank Linda's and Brad's dear friends and neighbours who have given so much to them during this courageous battle with cancer.
With the current provincial health situation there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
