In loving memory ~ It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Linda Marie Glaus after a brief illness. She was pre deceased by Son Curt , Husband Karl, Parents RET.FireChief Albert Dunn & Maxine Dunn. She is survived by Partner Larry Bowman & extended Family, Brother Peter (Lucille ) & Nephews, Nieces & many Cousins. She was born and raised an Island Girl & missed the Ocean when living in the Okanagan working in the Ski & Orchard Industries for over 30 years.
When visiting family in Switzerland between seasons she became a Winery & Viticulture Technician bringing new ideas to the Okanagan Wine Growers. The Ski Industry in B.C was her Winter love with Alpine, Cross Country, Cat & Heli Mt. Skiing with the Swiss & Italian Mountain Guides, focusing on Lodge facilities & Ski Shops for Clients. When at the Exposition Buying shows in Canada, Las Vegas & Munich, an old group of friends would have a fun few days skiing with the new equipment being offered for the next season. She enjoyed coaching in the B.C. Alpine Junior Racing Program & working with "The School Learn to Ski Program "which provided free school to slope equipment & lessons introducing the sport to all with many fund raising events being held throughout the year.
As old school friends Larry & Linda became Soulmates later in life & had near to twenty great years together. They enjoyed Heli flights to the Coast Mts & glaciers for picnics & hiking, Heli flying around the Hawaiian Islands, all of Vancouver Island & Alaska. Their RV travels & summer spot at Browns Bay for many years was a highlight in the warmer months. Her favourite was the "Airstream Trailer & GMC Duramax Diesel Truck". They travelled to the Caribbean, Northern South America & Central America in December & January for wonderful Cruises & Land Trips. It was a great life with lots of fun experiences with wonderful friends. She was known for her kind generosity, quick wit & sense of humour, wonderful smile & sparkling blue eyes.
She leaves behind her special Family Friends Bernice (late Stan ) Wardill & Families, Lorna (late Frank) Branchi & Families & special friend & "SIS" Susan (Ray) in Florida. She will miss her girl days lunches , spas & wine get togethers with great friends. We would especially like to thank Dr. Nic Janssen for his general care over many years and support these last few months. A special thanks to Home Care Nurse Shelley Pike for her dedication , professional instruction & wonderful care so Linda could stay at home comfortable & safe with Larry.
Donations offered in memory would be appreciated made to the Professional Firefighters Union Local 905 Station #1 , 666 Fitzwilliam Street Nanaimo, B.C.
