Linda Kay Herbin (Larson)

May 28, 1947 – June 27, 2021
We are saddened to announce that Linda Kay Herbin of Campbell River passed away peacefully at home on June 27, 2021 at the age of 74 years.
Linda was predeceased by her parents Herb Larson and Kay Larson of Sayward. She is survived by her daughter, Celina Callaghan (Murray) her sister Louise Ramm (Gary), her brother from Seattle, Earl Larson (Carolyn), her sister from Bellingham, Adele Anderson (Adrian) and grandchildren Tarryn Callaghan and Riley Callaghan.
Linda was born in Everett, Washington and came to Canada at the age of 11 months with her parents to start their lives in Canada and were joined by Louise shortly thereafter. Growing up in Sayward their lives were like other young families; hard-working, self-sufficient and valuing the companionship of close friends.
In 1965, Linda married Norman Herbin and shortly after Celina arrived. They stayed in Sayward until Celina turned 5 and then relocated to Campbell River. Young family life included traveling to many ball tournaments, golfing both locally and in and around Palm Springs and entertaining their many friends.
In addition to golf, Linda enjoyed curling and participated in many bonspiels often with her sister, Louise and brother-in-law, Gary. Linda was an accomplished cook and had a gift for sewing, crocheting and flower arranging.
Many life-long friends were made during her years working for the Courier-Islander and with her service to others with the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary. Her love of cooking also led to working in the kitchens of Willie’s CafĂ© and Dick’s Fish and Chips prior to her retirement.
At the age of 61, Linda was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer requiring chemotherapy treatments all the while wishing only a minimum of assistance from others as she greatly valued her independence. The treatments were a success and added to the years she had with all.
The family would like to thank the professionalism of the first responders and RCMP whom attended to officially confirm her passing at home of natural causes. You truly are Campbell River’s finest.
A celebration of life will take place at the Campbell River Vineyard on Thursday, July 29 at 11 a.m. followed by coffee and sandwiches. Linda’s ashes will be spread in a private ceremony at a later date.
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the CR Hospital Foundation in Linda’s memory.Obituary
