Lily Kruger, 88, a recent resident of Campbell River, BC, passed away on 04 April 2020. She was born to parents Lotti and Edward Kryger on 05 August 1931 in Melville, Saskatchewan and grew up in Bradner, BC.
She was predeceased by her parents, sister Erna, brother-in-law Charlie, brother Walter, and sister-in-law Paula.
Lily is survived by brother Arthur, sister Beba, and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Lily graduated from King Edward High School, Vancouver, in 1950. She studied computer programming courses at San Francisco State University and had a career as a secretary. She resided in Oakland, California, where she called home for many years. In 1995, she retired and continued to enjoy living in the Bay area for a number of years until relocating in 2005 to Portland, Oregon. In 2015, Lily returned to Vancouver to be closer to her family and then moved to Campbell River at the end of February 2020.
Lily enjoyed collecting recipes and she loved to experiment with gourmet cooking. Lily practiced yoga and she praised the benefits of her daily meditation practice. Lily's other passions included watching the Olympics, going out to see the latest films, working out at the gym, and reading all of the daily newspapers from cover to cover.
Thank you to the staff and residents at Tapestry at Wesbrook Village and Berwick by the Sea for their friendship and kindness. Thank you to the staff at Campbell River Hospital for their compassionate care in Lily's last days.
The family has entrusted Island Funeral Services/Elk Falls Crematorium with the arrangements. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lily's name to a charity of your choice or the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
